Wednesday Movies: Igor At Davao Cinemas

Kids have one more reason to smile this week as the much-awaited Igor Movie is now showing in Davao cinemas.

Aside from having the handsome and funny John Cussack (remember him in ConAir and War Inc.?) in the lead role as the voice of Igor, the movie is also a welcome respite from the horror and violent action films that has invaded the Davao cinemas in the past months.

Igor is not a who but a what. An Igor is a hunchbacked assistant of a mad scientist whose only purpose in life is to obey his master. Not this Igor who got tired playing a yes-man so he decided to join the annual evil science fair and that's where his misadventures with the land's brilliant but mad scientists began...

Shia LaBeouf (more popularly known to fans as Sam Witwiki in Transformers and Mutt, the son of Professor Henry Jones in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) is also back in theaters today via the successful "Eagle Eye".

Here's the movie schedule for this week:

Igor
SM Cinema 5 12:15/2:00/3:45/5:30

Eagle Eye
SM Cinema 1 12:20/2:30/4:40/6:50

Davao Movies: Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Most Dabawenyos will be spending their holidays (August 22-Friday and August 25-Monday are non-working holidays) outdoors due to the Kadayawan Festival so it is understandable that there's nothing much to see in the theaters expect extended flicks like Wall-E (which is a very good environmental movie that simplifies the effects of waste mismanagement and global warming to both kids and adults) and A Very Special Love.

However, there is a new movie showing so tag along your children to Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It is really much like the Star Wars movie version and focuses on the Galactic Republic conflict. See the Jedi Knights along with their clone army fight it out with Chancellor Palpatine's separatist movers. Not sure though if this is a cartoon version since the posters seem to be more like cartoon images rather than humans.

At last! After almost three weeks of violent and forgettable movies, Dabawenyos now have better cinema viewing choices. The Water Horse somehow relives the Legend of the Loch Ness Monster. It tells the story of a boy who found an egg who grows up to be the water horse. It is a nice movie for kids and for the whole family. There's nothing really exciting in the movie front this week except perhaps for the scie-fi movie Jumper which tells the story of a boy who discovers his power to teleport and how there are others like him in the same universe.

Wednesday Movie Guide

Alvin and Chipmunks is finally here! We've (the other part of we being "B") been waiting for this movie since Christmas last year. I was wondering why the cinemas kept on postponing the showing of the movie during the Holiday season when it was very fitting with the times. It was even shown in Manila theaters ahead.

We have had Alvin and the Chipmunks playing in our CD for several years already it would be nice to finally meet the gang that made us laugh even just in audio.

Well, I hope Alvin and the Chipmunks is well worth the wait.
