DMC Confirms Transfer Of Suspected A(H1-N1) Patient From Butuan to Davao

Davao Medical Center chief Dr. Leopoldo Vega confirmed this morning the transfer of a 4-year old patient from Butuan suspected of carrying the A(H1-N1)) virus to the Davao Medical Center last Friday.

“The Butuan and Cagayan de Oro hospitals are willing and have the capabilities to handle the case but it was the choice of the patient’s guardian who is the grandmother to bring the patient to Davao,” Vega said. DMC cannot deny any patient who wants to avail of their services even in cases like this.

The child will be placed in continuous treatment even before he has been diagnosed positive for the virus. Vega said they need to get three negative results from three swab tests before he can be released and declared free from the virus.

Both the child’s parents work in HongKong and the only immediate contact he has had here are his grandmother, his nine-year old cousin and the latter’s parents---all of whom have been quarantined.

Pacquiao KOs Hatton In Round 2

Here's a spoiler. The fight between Manny Pacquao and Ricky Hatton has not started in the Philippines yet but a brother who watched the boxing bout in Dubai called up and said Manny Pacquiao just knocked out Ricky Hatton winning over his opponent in Round 2!

I am not much of a boxing fan and I have not even tried to do sports reporting so I am not sure if the terms I am using are proper but as per the latest report from my bubwit in Dubai, PACQUIAO indeed reigns!

Mintal Police Arrests Lechon

The headline is not April Fool's joke.

Mintal Police arrested a lechon (roasted pig) being displayed and sold in one of the stalls at the Mintal Public Market last Sunday morning.

Last Sunday's arrest was not a joke but was equally humorous considering that this is the first time for the police to arrest a roasted pig. The owner was not around when the arresting officers apprehended the lechon but the seller was left in his stall with only his butcher's knife and a few bits and pieces of the roasted pig.

An interview with the Mintal Police indicated that they got a call from the Veterinarian's Office that morning. The doctor from the Veterinarian Office sought their help apparently because the owner did not have a permit from the Veterinarian's Office and the Slaughterhouse.

Bloopers

The incident involving the death of Trinidad "Trina" Etong, wife of ABS CBN broadcaster Ted Failon has stirred the whole country specifically the way the Quezon City Police District treated the case and the people involved in the case. The harsh treatment accorded to Ted Failon and his wife's relatives, who were dragged like criminals, gave rise to the fear among ordinary citizens.

Despite the heartaches and the headaches this case has brought not only to Ted Failon here's one amusing blooper involving an interview between a police officer and Alex Santos of ABS CBN just this morning.

Alex Santos was asking a police officer from QCPD if they have aleady ruled if the Trina Etong case was suicide or parricide.

Alex Santos: Sa tingin nyo po ba sir ang suicide ay krimen?

Police officer: Mahirap hong sagutin yan---alangan namang kasuhan natin yung patay!
